Marketing is one of the most time-consuming tasks when it comes to running a business, but it’s necessary for visibility and growth. But it’s also often the first thing that slips when you start to get busy. Even when you have a steady flow of work coming through, it’s still important to keep up with your marketing activities. After all, wouldn’t you rather have clients sitting there waiting for you than nothing in the pipeline? I’m going to hold my hands up now and say this is one thing where I don’t follow my own advice when I know I should!
Many business owners find it a struggle to find the time, the motivation or inspiration of what they want to be creating for their marketing. So, I’m going to share with you a few secrets when it comes to marketing by showing you how you can save a shed load of time creating your marketing content, but will help you in getting content out, being visible and ready to start growing your business.
Blogging
We are going to start off with a blog. Blogs are a fantastic way of sharing snippets of your knowledge and personality. But they are also brilliant at increasing your website visibility and SEO presence in the search engines. Blogging regularly also gives you something to share with your clients and potential clients to let them know that you really know what you’re talking about. Sharing something valuable to them that makes them want to buy from you and receive more!
Here is where you start saving time…
Thinking up lots of different content all the time is hard, and yes you want to be sharing different things to keep up engagement and interest, but you can also reuse the content you are creating. So I’m going to share the secrets of repurposing this blog to create lots of other avenues to market and share the content.
Share it
Firstly, and the simply, share the link for your blog on social media. You don’t need to say much more but grab their attention and encourage them to click the link. There are also other platforms such as Medium where you can post your blog and increase your visibility.
Email marketing
Share it with your email list. I’m a big fan of Mailchimp and I love their RSS feature. It makes it easy and quick to share blogs with your audience, without barely lifting a finger! Once you’ve set up the RSS feed in Mailchimp, you simply publish your blog and Mailchimp does the rest. Each and every time you post a new article, Mailchimp and your website will talk to each other, and your blog will appear in your subscribers inboxes!
But you could also include this as a topic in your next monthly newsletter. A quick synopsis and background behind it, with the blog image and link.
Memes
Writing about tips and tricks in your blog? Capture shorty punchy tips in a meme and schedule into your social media posts. Quoting someone or something? Do the same. Anything that stands out and really speaks to your audience or something they will find super informative or useful, repurpose into a social media graphic and post. You could even link it back to your blog to read the full article.
Infographics
Create an infographic with your tips and tricks. Again, just picking out the key top line elements as the idea of an infographic is to be visual and not text heavy. It’s something handy that readers could print off and keep as and when they need to refer back or save onto their smart devices.
Lead magnet
You can create a lead magnet for just about anything so why not expand on your blog and turn it into a lead magnet? Your blog is then the taster of information where they can then download the full document with even more insight and knowledge contained within the lead magnet, whilst growing your list at the same time.
Video
Again, if you’re creating tips and tricks, turning them into memes, why not also create a few short and sharp videos. Social media platforms such as Facebook love videos so even recording a quick top tip from your blog and posting to your business page or group is a great way to reuse the same content.
Courses and webinars
As with your lead magnet, you could expand and give detailed step-by-step instructions on your chosen area of expertise and turn it into a short course or maybe even run a webinar, either paid or free, to sign up for.
These are just a few simple ways to turn one piece of content into multiple marketing streams to increase your visibility. Marketing is time-consuming, but necessary for any business, no matter how big or small.
